A Boutique Hotel Inspired Guest Bedroom

“Beachy doesn’t always have to be blue and a one-of-a-kind design starts with choosing the unexpected!”
I recently worked with a beautiful young couple who purchased their first home. With a small budget but high demand for style, they wanted their home to feel like a unique experience when they walked into each room yet the entire design had to be cohesive. They also planned to have frequent visits by out of town friends and family so the design plan had to be quite impressive!
My design aesthetic is sleek, chic and modern with rich organic elements and I used the sunny Florida coast as a color reference for this particular design. Instead of typical sea shore shades, I chose a surprising color palette of white, black and yellow.
This boutique hotel inspired guestroom all began with a stunning white and black coral wallpaper which would soon be the focal point of this small room. And since I wanted that wall to be the highlight of this space, I selected a sleek, low profile white bed. Next came the bedding and boutique hotels are known for their signature pops of color, so this beautiful yellow blanket from HomeGoods against crisp white Egyptian cotton sheets added layers of luxury to this bedroom.
For the nightstands, I chose these simple yet elegant spindle end tables that added a modern twist to this bedroom’s beachy vibe and topped it with bright pops of yellow and gold accessories such as this table lamp and Scoppio sphere from Z Gallerie. To reinforce that coastal theme, I placed a woven jute rug under the bed to bring an element of “sand” into this space and layered a soft, luxurious Mongolian fur throw to add a bit of cozy sophistication.
Hotels usually have stunning, custom draperies and even though our budget did not allow for it, I did find these beautiful fretwork border window panels that were 100% cotton. They complemented the color scheme perfectly and added even more visual interest to this chic and fun guest bedroom. Finally, for art work above the bed, these sleek black and gold pieces from HomeGoods brought just the right amount of unique sophistication to this room!
I’m so happy with how this room turned out and my clients are so proud to share this space with their friends and family!
